History and backups

Undo a change, go back to an earlier version of the site, and back up your work.

Undo and redo

TOWeb saves your work as you go. To undo a mistake:

  • in a text, ⌘Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) undoes the last keystroke;
  • the Undo and Redo buttons in the top bar undo the last change to the site: page, theme or settings.

Version history

TOWeb sets restore points: each time the site is opened, while you work, before each publication, before a request to the AI, before a product import, and every time you press ⌘S (or Ctrl+S).

  1. Click the Saved indicator in the top bar: the Version history opens.
  2. Each point shows its reason, its date and the number of pages, posts and products.
  3. Click Restore on the point you want, then confirm.

A point is set just before going back: you can always return to the current state. You can also Take a restore point now and name it before a big change.

Content only

The history archives the site’s content: pages, posts, products, theme and settings. Your images are never copied; that is why it stays light.

Backups

History protects against a mistake; a backup protects against losing your computer.

  • Manual backup: with the site open, Project screen › Backups › Back up now. The file contains the whole site, media included. Keep it on a USB stick or an external drive, password-protected if you wish.
  • Automatic backup: after each successful publication, TOWeb backs up your site in its own data folder, outside the site folder, and keeps the last five.

To restore: Sites screen › Restore a backup…, or, with the site open, Project › Backups, which also lists the automatic backups. See also Changing computers.
